The past decade will be remembered as the one in which the Kalahari Reds hits the goat industry in full force. They became very popular in South
Africa as well as in all the other goat breeding countries. Since 1994 Wonderpan Genetics started a selection programme for Reds out of existing
boer goat studs. The stud is fully registered at the S.A. Stud Book.
Pedigrees as well as growing figures are available.
The weaning percentage of the Kalahari Reds is very high. The reason for this might be that the Reds are less visible to eagles and jackal.
Wonderpan kalahari Reds did extremely well at the
last S.A. Championships held in Bloemfontein in March 2000.
The stud achieved the most points at theChampionships as well as seven of a possible twelve champions. They were the S.A. Junior Champion Buck,
S.A. Reserve Senior Champion Buck, S.A. Reserve Grand Champion Buck, S.A. Junior Champion Ewe, S.A. Senior Champion Ewe, S.A. Reserve Grand
ChampionEwe and S.A. Grand Champion Ewe.
